Menoth got an extra 2″ of deployment and went first. The wall by the forest was given by Winds of Death.

Round 1 – Menoth

Kreoss went first, casting Lamentation and Defenders Ward on the Errants. The Devout ran around in front of Kreoss sticking base to base. The Redeemer hugged the side of the house to keep cover against ranged damage. The Errants ran forward spreading out to protect against the Slingers and Sentinel’s AOEs. The Vengers ran forward, staying on the hill where possible to get a bonus against shooting. The Knight Exemplars ran forward.

Round 1 – Skorne

With the opposing arm already in my face, I decided to hang back. The Siege Animantarax was whipped by the Beast Handlers to get a few rage tokens before scooting up to shoot at a couple of the Vengers and repo back out of charging range. The Aradus Sentinel also took a shot at some enemies. The Venator Slingers took some pot shots at a couple Exemplars. Morghoul cast Admonition on the Sentinel, and everything else just scooted up slightly.

Round 2 – Menoth

Kreoss passed out an extra focus to each of the Redeemers at the start and upkept Lamentation and Defenders Ward. The Devout went first, running exactly to where Kreoss could walk to. Kreoss went next walking forward and feating, knocking down about half of the Skorne army.

The right Redeemer went next shooting at the knocked down Reivers behind the wall and once at Morghoul. Morghoul dodged forward away from the Brute. The Redeemer on the left shot at the Brute destroying it. The Vengers charged the Sentinel which used Admonition to move out of range, the rest ran forward in an attempt to block up the field.

The Crusader ran forward into the circle zone. The Knight Exemplars made a cautious advance and tried to get as many in the circle zone as possible for scoring next turn.

Round 2 – Skorne

The Titan Gladiator shakes Knockdown and the the Siege Animantarax destroyed the Vengers around him with Tail attacks and shot one to death as well. Unfortunately, he didn’t make it into the zone after repositioning. The units stood and took some shots or walked. The Extoller Soulward charged an Exemplar, freeing up the Sentinel to shoot another Exempar. The final Venger was killed in the blast damage. Morghoul stepped up to the wall and feated. He cast Admonition and camped one fury.

Kreoss kept all of the upkeeps up and passed out two focus to the Redeemer on the right. The Redeemer on the right tried and failed to clear out the Slingers in the right zone. The Crusader ran into the zone in the middle to score. The Exemplar Errants charged at the Paingivers and Slingers taking out what they charged with their assault.

The Knight Exemplars on the right had to charge the Slingers to clear them out of the zone. The Redeemer on the left shot and killed the Extoller Soulward. Gravus ran through the forest to threaten for next turn. The Knight Exemplar on the left ran into the zone to score. The Devout and Kreoss both moved further up the board.

Round 3 – Skorne

Down 3 points on scenario, it’s time for an assassination attempt. The Sentinel took out a couple of models and knocked Gravus off his horse. Aptimus Marketh Abused the Gladiator, and the Beast Handlers healed / enraged him. The Gladiator cast Rush on himself (for a cost of 4 thanks to Lamentation), and slammed the Crusader through the Devout and Redeemer. Morghoul then charged the Devout and sidestepped into Kreoss’ back arc. He tried to papercut Kreoss to death, but ended up dealing less than half of the damage.

About this time, I remembered that the Siege Animantarax was still in play! He charged into some knights before shooting at Kreoss. He gets four shots but needs boxcars to hit. Surprisingly, he hits one shot but leaves Kreoss on one box.

All upkeeps fall off and Kreoss gives two focus to the Crusader. The Crusader spends a focus to stand up, along with the Devout. The Redeemer forfeits his combat action to stand up and move right next to Morghoul. The Crusader pinches Morghoul in by going base to base as well. He hit two out of the four attacks and did

Afterthoughts

Menoth: I think Gravus should have followed the Vengers in to fight the auto-knockdown Animantarax. He may have done something then.

Skorne: Holding back at the beginning of the game really hurt me. My beasts were blocked in by my own units and weren’t able to contribute in a meaningful way until too late. However, the Siege Animantarax really did work in this game, especially since I was lucky and rolled boxcars to hit at the end.
