We played a 50 point game, with the Recon scenario from Steamroller 2016. This was a practice match for the tournament we’ll be participating this weekend at Origins.

Synergy is on Amon and Fortify is on the middle Crusader from theme.
Round 1 – Menoth
Some of the ‘jacks ran, some of them walked. I tried to keep in mind the choir and their 9″ range for the hymn. Which I got mostly in place except for that front middle Dervish who did not get Passage.
Round 1 – Skorne
Everyone ran forward. The Karax fan out to protect the beasts. The Sentinel shoots the objective, laying down a corrosive template.
Round 2 – Menoth
Being so cautious the first turn for the Choir may have hurt this turn a little. Everything is just out of charge range even with Mobility. Instead two Dervishes and a Crusader ran forward to block up the assault and allow everything else to charge in next turn. Passage goes on the ‘jacks remaining behind.
In hind sight I should have attempted for some scenario points here. I could have easily just touched the flag on the left with the Dervish that was already there to score an easy point next turn.
Round 2 – Skorne
A lot of time was sunk into thinking about how to free the Sentinel for firing it’s tail weapon. Naaresh feated and got the beasts into a frenzy. The Bronzeback walked up and destroyed the Dervish. The Sentinel got Rush and walked so it could see the Covenant, and fired it’s AOE. This clipped Amon doing minimal damage. The right hand Dervish was taken out by the Gladiator after the Karax made space.
Round 3 – Menoth
With a surviving Crusader from last turn this turn goes significantly better. The Book does Lawgiver’s Creed and runs into the scenario to spread his aura. The Choir battle the four ‘jacks that stayed behind.
The Crusader on the bottom left charged the Sentinel first and got it down pretty far. It is finished by a charging Dervish that used Combo Strike. The middle Crusader snuck behind the Bronzeback with parry and did decent damage. The ‘jacks on the left do a good amound of damage to the Gladiator and clean up some Karax.
In hind sight again, the Mechanik could have stepped forward and touched that flag to get an extra point. A Choir member could have ran over to the flag on the right to score 2.
Round 3 – Skorne
The Bronzeback charged the bottom left Crusader and took it down along with the Dervish next to it. The Raider moved up to get within 4″ of the flag and ready for next turn. The Gladiator missed its attacks against the Crusader. The Karax do minimal damage to the Dervish and Crusader.
Round 4 – Menoth
Forgetting to pass the clock back last turn turn a free strike has me on very low time so I get anxious about things and don’t position the Choir properly to shield Amon.
The Crusaders clean up the Bronzeback and Gladiator allowing the fairly broken Dervish to step up at Naaresh. The Dervish does minimal damage here, but having a Warjack in your face is never a good thing.
I do actually score a point here, finally remembering flags exist.
Score: Menoth 1 – Skorne 0
Round 4 – Skorne
There is a small gap between the Choir members, enough for the Raider to see Amon. The Raider aimed, and got a hit on Amon. With no Focus left the Raider assassinates Amon.
Remember to toss the clock back after a free strike, I would have had an extra 3-4 minutes I bet on the clock.
