We played a 75 point game. We played Line Breaker from Steamroller 2016.
Round 1 – Menoth
Vindictus casts Defenders Ward on the Knight Errants and True Path. The Errants run forward spacing out to protect against the Titan Cannoneer. The Knight Exemplars spread out and run towards the other side.
Round 1 – Skorne
The Praetorian Karax run up the battlefield to get in a blocking position. The unit attachment uses the mini-feat to try and make sure some of the unit survives the oncoming attack from the Exemplar Errants.
Naaresh gives rush to the Titan Cannoneer and blur to the Karax, then he walks forward and casts cyclone to get in position behind the forest and objective for protection. The Cannoneer walks up and shoots at an Exemplar Errant. The attack missed but deviates to do 7 damage to the enemy objective. All other models run forward to get closer to the enemy.
Round 2 – Menoth
The Redeemer shoots at the enemy objective, damaging it slightly. Naaresh is caught in the blast but comes to no harm.Vindictus casts True Path and feats, upkeeping Defenders Ward. The Exemplar Errants charge the Karax and take down a few of them. The Knight Exemplars all march forward staying just out of reach of the large Warbeasts.
The Sanctifier sticks along a wall and close enough to gather souls for next turn. The Reckoner takes a shot at the Cyclops Savage, dealing a small amount of damage, and setting it on fire.
Round 2 – Skorne
The Basilisk Krea moves up the side and blasts five Exemplar Errants with spiritual paralysis. Unfortunately, Defender’s Ward keeps the spray from hitting all but two targets. The Karax try to finish off some of the Exemplar Errants, but Defender’s Ward protects them and none die.
Vindictus’ feat makes attacking in force impossible, so Naaresh feats defensively after being struck by three beast handlers to collect some blood tokens. The Titan Sentry moves up to take out a few Exemplar Errants. Other models move into position to do some real damage after hopefully surviving the next round.
Round 3 – Menoth
Vindictus keeps Defenders Ward and places two Focus on the Redeemer. The Redeemer takes out the enemy objective after three shots. The Knight Exemplars on the right charge in and take out half of the Gladiator and narrowly avoid killing the Savage. The Reckoner steps in and finishes the job. The Sanctifier is in a spot where he cannot reach the Bronzeback.
The Knight Exemplars on the left take out the Krea and less than half damage to the Titan Sentry. The Exemplar Errants continue knocking out a few Karax and keep being in the way for next turn.
Round 3 – Skorne
Naaresh is really feeling the pressure of so many knights pounding his army from every direction. The Gladiator tramples the knights surrounding him, but only manages to kill one. He is then forced to attack and smashes the knight holding the flag. Naaresh give rush to the Bronzeback so he has enough movement to engage the Sanctifier.
After being enraged by a Beast Handler, the Bronzeback moves into position and starts attacking. Bad dice rolls almost prevent the Bronzeback from destroying the Sanctifier, but he is just able to do so after using all 5 fury points.
The Sentry takes out almost an entire unit of Knights Exemplar, and the Cannoneer shoots at the enemy objective. She leaves it still in tact.
Round 4 – Menoth
The Reckoner gets 2 Focus from Vindictus, who also keeps Defenders Ward up. With this focus the Reckoner proceeds to destroy the Bronzeback through great rolls and being boosted by Battle from the Choir.
The Knights on the right kill the Titan Gladiator along with the Paingivers to score a point. The Knights on the left kill the Karax and the Extoller Soulward for another point. Along the way Vindictus moved forward to give out True Path to the Knights.
Round 4 – Skorne
With options running out and losing on scenario, Naaresh realizes that his only chance is to go for Vindictus himself. He moves to be within 8 inches of Vindictus and casts Bleed, boosting attack and damage rolls. With 2 fury left, he casts Bleed again, getting lucky to hit and doing a large amount of damage.
The Cannoneer sees her chance and fires a shot at Vindictus, boosting the attack roll and does enough damage to kill Vindictus.
Defender’s Ward on the Exemplar Errants really kept them alive and in the way of the Skorne player.
Vindictus should not have moved forward in order to expand his Truth Path. It was not needed in turn 4. Camping the 3 focus would have been much better, along with sticking behind the objective.
